The Rixson 997M is a wall-mounted, low-profile electromagnetic door holder designed to “hold open” doors under normal conditions and then automatically release them (permit them to close) upon fire alarm or smoke detector actuation. It is commonly used as part of fire and smoke barrier door assemblies, in conjunction with door closers.
Hold-open function: Holds a door in the open position until the magnet is de-energized (fail-safe release).
Wall mounting with concealed wiring: The unit mounts to the wall with wiring hidden behind the cover.
Tri-voltage magnet: Accepts multiple voltages (120 VAC, 24 VAC / DC, 12 VDC) depending on version.
Low projection: Projects 2-5/8″ (≈ 67 mm) from wall (including magnet + armature)
ANSI / UL / Listing: Complies with applicable door hardware and fire safety standards (e.g. ANSI/C00011)
Reinforced mounting requirements: Because of the holding forces and mechanical stresses, the wall and electrical box must be properly reinforced to resist pulling.
